The Criterion Collection Laserdiscs
Criterion released its first Laserdisc on December 1, 1984...Citizen Kane! During the next 15 years, Criterion went on to release a total of 363 movies on LaserDisc with its final release being Armageddon on March 16, 1999. Many other titles were slated for production but were cancelled for various reasons. Today, Criterion LaserDiscs are some of the most highly sought after LaserDiscs in the world! Thanks to Criterion and Citizen Kane, we have the phenomenon of Theatrical Trailers today! Criterion's version of Citizen Kane is credited as being the very first "Special Edition" home video featuring stills, video essays and the film's trailer. During Criterion's early years, they released a total of 39 movies with 2 versions..CLV and CAV and 1 movie (Citizen Kane) with 4 versions. This all started with Citizen Kane and ended with Tootsie in 1982. The CLV version of a movie is easy to recognize as it has an "A" after the number. LaserDisc Vault maintains a good inventory of Criterion Laserdiscs and we are constantly updating our inventory with new additions!

Roan Group Laserdiscs
The Roan Group released 58 LaserDisc Titles beginning on March 23, 1994 with "Zane Grey Collection #1: Fighting Caravans/ Fighting Westerner/ Hell Town" and ending with their highly-sought-after cult classic, "Two Lane Blacktop" on May 11, 1999. Seven of the 58 released classics were AC-3 Dolby Digital. They also had 4 other movies planned for release, but never came to fruition due to the Roan Group being purchased by Troma Entertainment on May 15, 2000!
Roan Group is widely praised for their highly superior restoration quality and have been featured on Siskel & Ebert, Leonard Maltin and Entertainment Weekly for their accomplishments in the industry! All Roan releases are fully restored & digitally mastered from the original film elements to ensure that these classics live on for future generations to enjoy.
